Speaks French, German, English and Romanian proficiently. Her father is an theater professor at one of Romania's highest-rated acting schools. She won the Best Female Actor Award for the Year 2000 in the Mangalia Young Actor Gala. In 2008, she was recognized as an 'Eastern Shooting Star' European Shooting Star' by the European Film Promotion Board. She starred in the Romanian film 4 luni 3 saptamani si 2 days (4 months, 3 weeks and 2 Days) directed by Cristian Mungiu, which was awarded the Palme d'Or at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival and two other prizes (the Cinema Prize of the French National Education System and the FIPRESCI award). Youth Without Youth, a Francis Ford Coppola movie, was also a major part of her career. She portrayed Yasim Awar in the BBC's 5 episode The Last Enemy miniseries. Marinca was a part of Oliver Hirschbiegel's Five Minutes of Heaven as well as the Romanian film Boogie. Then she as Irma's German Aunt in Fury that was released in 2014.
