Lars Mikkelsen

Lars MikkelsenAt the age of 27, he was enrolled at the National Theatre School of Denmark at which point he graduated in 1995. Alongside his role as the lead actor in The Killing and lead actor, he was also a part of two other internationally highly acclaimed Danish drama series, Those Who Kill, and Borgen III. He also played in episodes of the BBC drama Sherlock as Charles Augustus Magnussen (blackmailer). In the American TV show House of Cards, he played the president of Russia. He was awarded an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his part in Danish TV drama Herrens Veje, which was shown in the UK in 2019 under the name Ride Upon the Storm. In addition to his home country of Danish, Mikkelsen speaks fluent Swedish, German and English and has learned different accents. According to Mikkelsen's account, he and his brother learned English through Monty Python records.
